Parent Engagement

Helping schools find the best ways to engage with parents and families in their school communities

Parent Steering Committee launches for 2025

We know how critical it is for public charter schools to establish strong, lasting relationships with parents and families in tehir school communities. Our Parent Engagement resources, offered to grant awardees through the Great Schools for Connecticut Project in partnership with Breakthrough Leadership Consulting, helps schools foster and develop these connections to help better serve their students.

To achieve this goal, we have developed the Parent Steering Committee*, a highly interactive, school-year-long cohort experience. Parent leaders from participating grant-awarded schools have a chance to learn best practices and how they can be applied in a variety of school settings. The committee collaborates on plans for engaging and empowering families to make their school communities stronger. The year will culminate with a presentation to school leaders that outlines an actionable plan for family engagement and support.

Family Engagement Survey

Participating schools can distribute our Family Engagement Survey to their school community in order to gather insights and gauge sentiment that will better inform the school's approach. The survey is available for download in both English and Spanish.
